Preparing Your Home

Remove all clutter from yard

Cut and edge grass

Trim all hedges and weed all gardens

Paint, fix or wash railings, steps, windows, screens and front door

Repeat with side and or back doors

Clean rain gutters

Straighten garage

Paint or wash garage doors and windows

Repair all leaks and dripping faucets

Replace all burned out light bulbs

Repair faulty light switches

Remove all inside clutter

Oil hinges, tighten door knobs

Give home an overall cleaning
Prior to Showing Buyers

Turn on all inside lights, even during the daylight hours

During evening, turn on outside lights

Turn on soft music

If possible, have house smelling good ... cinnamon on stove, etc

Keep pets in separate area, change litter box often

Keep valuables, money, etc., in safe place and out of sight

Light a fire in fireplace in the fall and winter months whenever possible
When Showing Your Home

Buyers are more comfortable previewing your home if they feel unobtrusive, and will spend more time if you are not in the home

If you are unable to leave the home, group children around the television with low volume, or have them play in specifically designated area

Do not precede or follow prospective buyers throughout your home, let your sales associate show and sell
